For those who love the sights and sounds of hunting ducks, geese and other waterfowl, this one’s for you. While seeing a flight of ducks decoying into the spread is truly thrilling, the conditions also present some unique challenges since the hunting is often best when the weather is at its very worst—cold temperatures, drizzling rain and even sleet or snow, plus gusty winds. Being on the water doesn’t help things; setting and retrieving decoys can also make for a soaking-wet experience. And you need to remain well concealed, especially your hands and face.
As passionate waterfowlers, we understand these unique challenges and have produced a complete line of gloves designed with these situations in mind.
First up is the aptly named Duck Pond decoy management glove. This one is 100 percent waterproof, with fleece lined brushed neoprene and longer cuffs for a warm, dry fit when you’re setting or retrieving decoys in frigid water. A non-slip Monkey Grip palm works just as well when wet as it does dry. And it’s also available in a variety of camo patterns including the Mossy Oak Bottomland and Shadow Grass.
When it’s time to hunt, reach for the Stealth Dry-Tec. This one features the latest in Dry-Tec waterproof and DWR water-shedding technology, which makes this a 100 percent waterproof glove that also sheds water on the exterior to prevent them from becoming bulky with excess moisture. The result? Your hands stay bone-dry while the gloves remain feather-light, all day long. There’s enough Thinsulate insulation to cut the cold without adding too much bulk, allowing for exceptional feel and dexterity. There’s a slim-cut index finger and thumb for excellent control while shooting and reloading, too. It’s available in four popular camouflage patterns including Mossy Oak Bottomland.
Camouflaging your face is paramount—there’s no faster way to spook an incoming flight of birds. Hunt Monkey has several balaclava-style face guards which range from lightweight for early season and warm-weather hunts to heavier versions which include Sherpa fleece for incredible warmth, while also offering the ultimate in concealment plus sun protection.
And we didn’t forget about your feet, either. The fastest way off the water or out of the blind is with cold feet so be prepared with Hunt Monkey’s merino wool Over the Calf socks. There are three weights for varying temperatures, from light to medium to heavy when things really get brutal. They’re perfect for either boots or waders, too.
Be warm, comfortable and safe on the water or in the blind this season. To learn more about becoming a dealer for Hunt Monkey products, click here.
