Premier Body Armor Launches the Fortis Bump Helmet, Trading Plastic for an Aramid Composite Shell

Premier Body Armor, a leader in advanced ballistic protection, announces the launch of the Fortis Bump Helmet, a high-cut, non-ballistic helmet built for rescue operations, training, and extended night vision use. Conventional bump helmets are molded from ABS plastic, but the Fortis Bump Helmet uses an aramid composite shell made from high-strength fibers engineered for impact resistance and durability, and still runs on the same hardware as Premier's Fortis Ballistic Helmet.

Fully assembled, the helmet weighs 2.2 lb. It's tested to EN 397, the European standard for industrial safety helmets, which covers shock absorption, penetration resistance, and flame resistance. A 7075 aviation-grade aluminum NVG shroud includes a bungee attachment for better retention, and color-matched glass-reinforced polycarbonate dovetail rails carry lights, cameras, and other accessories. Because the shroud, rails, and dial retention system are the same parts used on the Fortis Ballistic Helmet, a mount or rail accessory that fits one helmet fits the other. The one-size design pairs a rear adjustment dial with two stackable pad sets, one thin and one thick, that can be worn alone or together to create a custom fit. The pads are antimicrobial and AR/PD 10-02 compliant, and vent slots in the shell help cut heat buildup on long shifts.

The Fortis Bump Helmet isn't bulletproof. It's built for blunt impact, falling debris, and tight spaces, with no ballistic protection, so anyone whose work carries ballistic risk should wear the Fortis Ballistic Helmet instead.

"We built the Fortis Bump Helmet on the same shroud, rails, and fit system as our Fortis Ballistic Helmet because they're tried and true. Your ballistic and bump helmets should be cross-compatible for accessories.", said Alex Stewart, President of Premier Body Armor. "The bump is also a great way to help balance the cost of a Night Vision set up if you don't need a ballistic helmet. The bump won't break the bank, so you can still get the nods and hit the range."

The Fortis Bump Helmet is available in Black and Ranger Green for $239. It's designed for search and rescue and disaster response teams, agencies and individuals running night vision training, and hunters and airsoft players who want a stable, rail-ready platform.

New Fortis Bump Helmet Cover

Alongside the helmet, Premier Body Armor is releasing the Fortis Bump Helmet Cover, a 500D Cordura cover made specifically for the Fortis Bump Helmet. Hook-and-loop panels hold identification patches and accessories, integrated shock cord keeps cables and gear in place, and breathable mesh sections help with airflow. The contoured cut leaves the NVG shroud and side rails fully accessible. The cover comes in Ranger Green, Woodland, and MultiCam for $49.
