Youth Deer Gun Season Oct. 16-18

During the youth deer gun season Oct. 16-18, hunters under 18 years of age can head into the woods with an adult mentor before other deer gun hunters. These youth days offer an excellent opportunity for seasoned sportsmen and women to show a young person the ins and out of hunting.

All deer taken during the youth deer gun season are included in the hunter's combined season limit of six deer, but are not included as part of the hunter's regular deer gun season limit of four deer. That means a youth can participate in this unique three-day gun season and hunt during the state's gun season in November. Now that's a great deal!

To participate, youth need only a youth annual super hunting license and they must be accompanied by an adult with a current hunting license. The accompanying adult hunter cannot hunt deer with a gun, but may archery hunt while accompanying the youth hunter.

We've compiled everything you need to know in our Youth Deer Gun Season Guide, whether you are a youth hunter or an adult who plans to accompany a youth.
