We Buy Guns Reports Record September Purchases and Offer Value as Submission Volume Eases

We Buy Guns has released its September 2026 Secondary Firearms Market Report, providing a first-party look at firearm offer activity, completed purchases, category trends and regional participation observed through the company's nationwide purchasing platform.

September marked a clear split between submission volume and completed activity. Offer count declined 2.8% from August to 1,980, while completed purchases rose 8.0% to 758 — the highest monthly purchase total of 2026. Total offer value reached a new year-to-date high of $1,149,663. The company paid $377,320 to sellers during the month, at an average purchase value of $497.78.

"Fewer offers did not mean a weaker month," said Chris Wing, owner of We Buy Guns. "Purchases and total offer value both hit 2026 highs, which tells us the market stayed active on the transactions that closed even as overall submission volume cooled slightly from August."

Key findings from the September 2026 report include:

  • Handguns accounted for 59.9% of offers and 67.0% of completed purchases; rifles represented 28.9% of offers and 25.1% of purchases.
  • Smith & Wesson led manufacturer activity with 170 submissions and 86 completed purchases; the SIG Sauer P320 led model activity with 16 submissions and 11 purchases.
  • The SIG Sauer P320 was the most frequently submitted and purchased model, with 16 submissions and 11 completed purchases.
  • Florida led the country with 221 submissions and 74 completed purchases; Georgia posted the highest average offer among states with at least 10 submissions.
  • Premium and NFA firearms remained value outliers: machine guns were 1.2% of offers but averaged $6,800; Staccato XC submissions averaged $2,666.67.

Commonly owned defensive handguns continued to provide the majority of market volume. Smith & Wesson, Ruger, SIG Sauer and Glock ranked among the most frequently submitted manufacturers.

Premium and collector-oriented firearms remained distinct from the broader market. Three submitted examples of the Staccato XC averaged $2,666.67, while two completed purchases of the Daniel Defense DDM4 averaged $1,200. Three Wilson Combat EDC X9 submissions averaged $1,666.67, and three Colt Python submissions averaged $1,000.

Geographic activity remained broadly distributed. Florida led submissions and completed purchases, followed by Texas (157 submissions) and Indiana (156). Georgia produced the highest average offer value among states with at least 10 submissions.

The September report is based on anonymized, first-party firearm offer and purchase activity observed through We Buy Guns offer and payout amounts, not retail asking prices or auction results. Offers and purchases are grouped by their respective activity dates and represent separate monthly datasets.
