Mesa, AZ – Available now, Berger has added new 6.8 Western ammunition to their industry-leading Elite Hunter ammunition product line.
Berger's new 6.8 Western load features a heavy-for-caliber 170 Grain Elite Hunter bullet traveling at an impressive 2,900 fps, delivering outstanding exterior ballistics and long-range terminal performance. With a best-in-class 0.339 G7 Ballistic Coefficient (BC) and exceptionally consistent BC standard deviation, this ammunition provides the precision and predictability critical for today's ethical long-range hunter. Shot after shot, Berger's 6.8 Western ammunition sets a new standard for performance in the field.
Originally developed by Winchester and Browning to maximize the potential of modern, heavy-for-caliber .277-caliber bullets in a short-action platform, the 6.8 Western has quickly become a favorite among long-range hunters. Berger's new offering builds on that foundation, delivering exceptional downrange energy retention, reduced wind drift, and devastating terminal performance at extended distances.
"Our goal with the new Berger 6.8 Western Elite Hunter ammunition is to provide hunters with another premium option that exceeds expectations," said David Hamilton, Berger Plant Manager. "This ammunition delivers unmatched exterior ballistics and long-range terminal performance. When the hunt of a lifetime comes down to a single shot, hunters can trust Berger Elite Hunter ammunition to perform without compromise."
Berger Elite Hunter bullets and ammunition feature a sleek, high-BC hybrid-ogive design engineered specifically for hunters seeking a precise, ethical long-range solution. Upon impact, Elite Hunter bullets penetrate approximately 2 to 3 inches before producing extreme hydrostatic shock and a massive wound cavity through the vital organs. This ensures energy is delivered where it matters most. Elite Hunter bullets are also manufactured using Berger's renowned J4 Hunting Jacket, held to exacting tolerances of less than .0003-inch total indicated runout (TIR) for superior consistency and accuracy.
