The Legend of the Black Horseman
Charro Negro translated "The Black Horseman," is one of the most mysterious and enduring figures in Mexican folklore. Often described as a supernatural horseman dressed entirely in an elegant black charro suit, he appears after nightfall along lonely roads, rural trails, and isolated crossroads. Mounted on a magnificent black horse, the Charro Negro is portrayed as wealthy, refined, and commanding—yet behind his polished appearance lies something sinister.
According to legend, the Charro Negro approaches travelers who are alone, lost, or vulnerable. In some versions, he offers directions or assistance; in others, he tempts his victims with gold, riches, or promises of prosperity. Accepting his gifts, however, may come at a terrible price. The mysterious horseman is frequently associated with the Grim Reaper in disguise or as a condemned soul forced to wander the earth.
One popular interpretation tells of a man whose obsession with wealth led him to make a pact. When he attempted to escape his debt, he was condemned to roam eternally as the Charro Negro, searching for others who might fall victim to the same temptations.
The legend reflects powerful themes found throughout Mexican storytelling: greed, temptation, pride, morality, death, and redemption. His black clothing, silver ornamentation, powerful horse, and nighttime appearances create an unforgettable combination of traditional charro imagery and supernatural terror.
Passed through generations of oral tradition, the Charro Negro remains an iconic figure of Mexican folklore—a haunting reminder that fortune offered too easily may demand a price far greater than gold.

This limited run of only 200 Full Size Government Model Colt 1911s chambered in .38 Super blends traditional charro imagery with supernatural mystique. Each pistol will include a special engraved edition number.
Details on the left side of the gun's slide include selective 24k gold and .999 silver-plating the rear panel is decorated with a gold horseshoe, leading the flats of the slide a Cathedral, money bag and human skull, surrounded with the Poppy floral scroll representing death, resilience, and traditional healing.
The right side of the gun's slide showcases a balance in selective 24k gold and .999 silver with a Raven representing bad omens and harbingers of misfortune in Mexican Folkflore, Charro Nego shown scouting in distinguished Mexican Heritage attire holding his horse's rein as a full moon meets the midnight peak. Poppy floral scroll continues the decorative floral scroll.
The top of the slide is decorated with Charro Negro riding his horse in the night hours haunting a lonely road, tempting travelers with dangerous bargains. The rear of the slide displays a graveyard of those who have past to the afterlife.
The frame, slide, barrel and hardware are all highly polished and feature 24k gold of select areas and controls in a deep Colt Royal Blue finish. .999 silver plating is selective on this collector grade work of art, made complete with a black hematite Colt Rampart medallion inserted on presentation-grade black-cloud pearl Kirinite grips.
