Jim Curcuruto, executive director of OSCF noted, "HATS™ (Hunters, Anglers, Trappers, Shooters) support land, fish and wildlife conservation to the tune of $3.6 billion annually, or $10 million every single day. This makes HATS the primary funders of conservation in America. We created this collection to spread the message and support the HATS mission. If you hunt, fish, trap or shoot, this collection is for you."
In addition to the apparel launch, Curcuruto was also a guest on the Life In Motion Podcast, hosted by Jeremy Lux, founder of Illumine Collect. Available everywhere that podcasts stream, Curcuruto and Lux spend the episode engaged in a discussion about OSCF, its initiatives and the pivotal role played by HATS as the primary funders of conservation.
Annual breakdown of the $3.6 billion in conservation funding from HATS:
- $1.0 billion from the purchase of hunting and trapping licenses.
- $900 million from the purchase of fishing licenses.
- $1.4 billion from a portion of the sale of products HATS purchase (ie: firearms, ammunition, archery equipment, fishing rods, reels, lures and more)
- $300+ million in donations to conservation focused organizations such as Ducks Unlimited, National Deer Association, Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation, Pheasants Forever, National Wild Turkey Federation and Trout Unlimited.
