The Gulf Council will convene a virtual meeting of its Shrimp Advisory Panel on October 15, 2026, from 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM Eastern Daylight Time.
The meeting will begin with a presentation on shrimp-related Council Actions that have occurred since the last Shrimp Advisory Panel meeting. The Advisory Panel will then hear a presentation on Gulf shrimp fleet effort estimates from 2024. The Advisory Panel will hear the status of updated analyses on the minimum threshold number of federal Gulf shrimp permits and then review a draft of Shrimp Amendment 20 which addresses status determination criteria for penaeid shrimp. Finally, the Advisory Panel will discuss membership and goals of a review panel for the federal Gulf shrimp permit pool.
Public comment will be held before the meeting adjourns.
