ClamAYR Takes On the Mississippi River Challenge

Rogers, Minnesota — Last month, professional anglers Keith Kavajecz and Keith Poche took on the Mississippi River Challenge, traveling the length of the Mississippi River by boat with the ClamAYR™ Boondocker serving as their home away from home along the way. Their journey began at the headwaters of the Mississippi River in northern Minnesota and ended at the Gulf in Louisiana.

Over the course of the adventure, Kavajecz and Poche spent nine nights camping in the ClamAYR Boondocker, setting up camp at different stops as they made their way down the river. The trip provided a unique real-world test of the shelter's portability, quick setup, durability and versatility.

"The Mississippi River Challenge is such a unique adventure, and we were excited to partner with Keith Poche and Keith Kavajecz and have them use the ClamAYR Boondocker throughout their journey," said Addy Bleicher, Director of Marketing at Clam Outdoors. "They were moving every day and needed a shelter that could travel with them, set up quickly and provide a comfortable place to camp night after night. Spending nine nights in the Boondocker while traveling the Mississippi was a great real-world demonstration of what this shelter was built to do."

Designed for adventure year-round, the patent-pending ClamAYR shelter platform features the innovative AYRTRUSS Design™, an inflatable air-frame system that creates a strong, spacious shelter without traditional poles. With everything for the trip needing to travel by boat, the Boondocker provided a portable shelter solution that could be packed up each morning, transported to the next destination and quickly set up again at the end of the day.

"The shelter performed great throughout our whole journey, and I was very impressed with it," said Kavajecz following the trip. The pair encountered heavy bugs at several campsites along the river, making the fully enclosed shelter especially valuable at the end of long days on the water. The Boondocker provided a protected and spacious place to sleep while keeping unwanted insects outside.

Throughout the journey, Kavajecz and Poche shared updates from the Mississippi River Challenge on Facebook and through the website MRC2026.com, giving followers a look at the places they traveled, the challenges they encountered and what life was like traveling and camping along one of America's most iconic waterways.

The adventure also demonstrated the idea behind the ClamAYR name: Adventure Year Round. From camping and overlanding to hunting, fishing and ice fishing, the ClamAYR platform was created to provide a portable basecamp for outdoor adventures throughout the seasons.

For Kavajecz and Poche, that basecamp traveled with them down the Mississippi River—from northern Minnesota all the way to Louisiana.

Nine nights. The length of the Mississippi. One portable shelter traveling with them along the way.

The Mississippi River Challenge took the ClamAYR Boondocker far beyond a traditional campsite and demonstrated how a portable, adaptable shelter can become an essential part of an adventure.
