The International Hunter Education Association–USA (IHEA-USA) is proud to announce the 2026–2027 50 for 50 State Instructors of the Year, recognizing outstanding hunter education instructors whose dedication, leadership, and service are making an impact in communities across the country.
The 50 for 50 program recognizes one outstanding volunteer instructor from each state, nominated by their respective state agency for going above and beyond in service to hunter education. From classrooms and ranges to field experiences and mentorship, these instructors play an essential role in preparing the next generation of safe, responsible, and ethical hunters. This continues the program's original model of recognizing state-nominated educators for exceptional service.
The 2026–2027 State Instructor of the Year Awards are supported through IHEA-USA's partnership with GSM Outdoors, with SOG Knives serving as this year's featured sponsor. Together, this partnership helps IHEA-USA recognize the volunteers who dedicate their time, knowledge, and experience to strengthening hunter education nationwide.
"Hunter education instructors are the heartbeat of our mission," said Alex Baer, Executive Director of IHEA-USA. "Every year, the 50 for 50 program gives us an opportunity to recognize individuals who consistently give more of themselves to their students, their communities, and the future of hunting. We're grateful for our continued partnership with GSM Outdoors and their support in bringing SOG Knives forward as this year's sponsor to help us celebrate these exceptional instructors."
