Tactacam — America's leading manufacturer of technical outdoor camera technology — announces a groundbreaking new digital habitat management platform: Habitat IQ.
The Habitat IQ application leverages expert-guided land management practices and advanced artificial intelligence learning models, empowering landowners and managers to better understand properties and ultimately create better habitat and hunting.
"Habitat IQ will reduce barriers of entry in habitat management," Paul Meshyock, Business Unit Leader at Tactacam Brands explained. "Habitat management consultants are incredible resources, but not every land manager or hunter has that luxury. Habitat IQ levels the playing field and gives people a powerful, affordable tool to build a custom plan for managing and hunting a property."
Available to download for free through Apple and Android app stores, Habitat IQ will offer subscriptions pro-rated by the amount of acreage managed in the app, starting at an introductory annual rate of $49.99. Using the app's advanced mapping tools, subscribers will be able to define their property's boundaries. Once a property is defined, users can develop detailed management plans for building ideal deer habitat and receive advanced insight on hunting tactics based on a given property.
"Habitat IQ helps you build your property digitally before improving it physically and executing a hunting strategy," Meshyock continued.
The platform is built on three guiding pillars: habitat management, hunting strategy, and elite mapping tools.
Habitat management tools allow managers to build a tailored, long-term plan that will guide overall property management, food plot management, habitat improvement and overarching strategic land decisions to improve the health and productivity of the land. The habitat tools are informed by habitat management experts and employ advanced learning models that calculate topography, soil type, climate and other variables to develop sound land management strategies.
Hunting strategy tools will use AI-assisted models based on expert inputs from hunters and land managers to process data related to topography, weather, seasonality, food and water sources, and deer movement predictions to help hunters maximize their time and efforts on when, where, and how to hunt a property.
Habitat IQ also integrates elite maps that include a standalone mapping engine dedicated to Habitat IQ. Advanced overlays, high-performance mapping tools, property boundaries, and ownership information will all be integrated into the app.
"The nature of this technology allows us to make updates and add new features easily, so the improvements will be continuous," Meshyock said. "We have a robust plan to roll out new features that will continue to enhance the user experience. We're very happy with the performance of this app now, but we know it will only improve and grow over time."
To inform Habitat IQ, Tactacam partnered with some of the most experienced and knowledgeable deer hunters and habitat managers in the country, including Jeff Sturgis, Skip Sligh and Lee Lakosky, to name a few. The expert experience and guidance brings real-life learning into an accessible and user-friendly tool for managers.
"Habitat IQ is informed by some of the best minds in deer hunting and habitat management," Meshyock said. "That human knowledge is indispensable and provides diverse thought processes and strategies to inform a more holistic and varied plan for app users. When combined with advanced learning models and data-driven input, it will accelerate the learning process and create clear, insightful options for land managers and hunters."
Habitat IQ was developed in partnership with REVEAL by Tactacam, which manufactures advanced cellular trail cameras. REVEAL cameras are managed through the industry's leading app, and Habitat IQ was built in close coordination with REVEAL developers and hunting experts.
"Like all things at Tactacam, our products are created in collaboration and built by the end user," said Gregg Farrell, REVEAL Vice President of Brand Marketing. "We are a customer-first team of hunters building products for hunters, and that was crucial in developing Habitat IQ."
While Habitat IQ does not require REVEAL cameras, they will integrate seamlessly in Habitat IQ. The app will identify wildlife corridors and make recommendations on where to place trail cameras. REVEAL cellular trail cameras will display within Habitat IQ to give managers a complete picture of their property, although cameras will still be managed within the REVEAL mobile app.
When used in tandem, Tactacam's Habitat IQ and REVEAL technologies give hunters unprecedented knowledge in how to manage and hunt their land. The system also gives them something equally meaningful: the satisfaction of better land and wildlife management, and a profoundly enhanced connection with the natural world around them.
