Gulf Council Convenes a Virtual Meeting of its Standing Scientific and Statistical Committee

The Gulf Council will convene a half-day, virtual meeting of its Standing Scientific and Statistical Committee (SSC) on May 5, 2026. The meeting will be held from 8:30 AM – 12:30 PM Eastern time.

During this meeting the SSC will review the development and application of the Gulf Fishery-Independent Survey of Habitat and Ecosystem Resources (G-FISHER), a composite video survey that blends the efforts of several regional video surveys to form a more comprehensive view of relative abundance by species across the Gulf.

Public comment will be held in-person and over the webinar before the meeting adjourns.
