The Two Rivers State Recreation Area Trout Lake in Douglas County will open March 14. This creates an exceptional opportunity for people to experience higher catch rates of rainbow trout, enjoy great spring outdoor recreation, and introduce some new people to fishing.
Anglers must purchase a daily trout tag for $6 to possess trout at Two Rivers. Each tag is good for a daily bag limit of four trout. A person may purchase up to three tags per day, allowing 12 trout in possession. An adult angler may have two children under the age of 16 fishing under the authority of his/her tag, but the group bag limit still is limited to four trout per tag.
The Trout Lake (Lake No. 5) will be open from 7 a.m. to sunset each day. Trout tags are sold at the Two Rivers SRA office; call 402-359-5165 for office availability. Anglers, except residents younger than age 16, must have a Nebraska fishing license. All vehicles entering the park must have a park entry permit. Anglers may use one fishing rod and reel each.
Anglers can practice catch-and-release of trout at the lake with the daily trout tag, where in years past a caught trout was required to be harvested. A daily trout tag is required from March 1-May 31.
