Site updates will limit access to boat ramp, parking area
Access to the boat ramp and parking area at Grey Bear Fishing Access Site (FAS) on the Yellowstone River will be restricted due to a construction project beginning later this month. FWP anticipates the project will begin between March 20 and 27. Updates will be provided on regional Facebook pages and online at: myfwp.mt.gov/fwpPub/allRestrictions.
The project will include development of a secondary overflow parking area and walking trail to connect the new parking area to the boat ramp, improvements to the existing parking area and fencing, and installation of new signs and gates. FWP anticipates all work will be completed by April 30.
The campground will remain open, but visitors should anticipate heavy equipment and truck traffic at the FAS during construction.
Access to the boat ramp will be restricted only for the first few weeks of the project. When work is completed in the boat ramp parking area, the area will re-open to public access. Watercraft take-out at this site will not be allowed during this phase of construction. Watercraft launching may still be allowed during this phase of construction, depending on watercraft type. To request access to launch at Grey Bear FAS during construction, please call recreation manager Sean Flynn at 406-431-6112.
