FWP Looking to Hire a Full-Time Position in the Plentywood Area

PLENTYWOOD - Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks is now accepting applications for a full-time split position of recreation ranger, maintenance worker, and hunting access technician. This unique field position combines three essential outdoor roles into one dynamic opportunity in serving public lands and recreation sites across northeastern Montana. The successful applicant receives full health, leave, and retirement benefits, and would need to live in Plentywood or the surrounding area.

Assigned to Brush Lake State Park, the regional recreation ranger's role will focus on visitor services and recreation management, including leading educational programming, enforcing park rules and ensuring fee compliance, and overseeing campground reservations and administrative duties.

As a maintenance worker, this role would help perform ground maintenance at Brush Lake State Park and five area fishing access sites, including mowing, trimming, garbage removal, latrine cleaning, fence installation and repair, basic building repairs and upkeep, and landscaping and weed control.

Finally, as a hunting access technician from mid-August through mid-December, this role supports FWP's Block Management Program. Responsibilities include coordinating with landowners on hunting access agreements, installing signage and hunter sign-in boxes, monitoring hunter compliance, patrolling properties during hunting season, and collecting data and preparing end-of-season reports.
