Springfield Armory is proud to announce that the Kuna™ 9mm pistol has earned an Editors' Choice Award from On Target magazine, in recognition of it being selected as a best new product for 2025 by the publication's editorial team.
The Kuna is named for the European Pine Marten, a formidable hunter that is known in Croatia as the Kuna and holds the distinction of being the country's national animal. This fierce creature also lends its name to Croatian military units as well as being depicted on the nation's currency.
This 9mm PDW-style pistol is engineered around a soft-recoiling, ultra-reliable roller-delayed operating system housed in a monolithic aluminum upper. It delivers reduced felt recoil and muzzle rise, while also delivering fast follow-up shots and enhanced control. The result is a firearm with a small profile and nimble handling.
The pistol features fully ambidextrous controls with a reversible, non-reciprocating, fold-flat charging handle. Rounding out the package are generous M-Lok® slots, an AR-pattern pistol grip with Adaptive Grip texture as on the Hellcat® and Echelon™ pistols, translucent 30-round magazine with steel feed lips, hybrid flip-up sights, and more.
The Kuna is offered in two versions. One — priced at an MSRP of $1,179 — features an integrated Picatinny rail on the end plate. The other variant — priced at an MSRP of $1,330 — features a Strike Industries FSA brace.
"This award is reserved for products that demonstrate outstanding technical achievement and/or represent an extraordinary value for the money," said Ben Battles, Editor of On Target magazine. "The Kuna checks both boxes. Between its ultra-reliable roller-delayed operating system and a fun factor that has few rivals, the Kuna easily earned this award."
"We're extremely proud to receive this Editors' Choice Award from On Target magazine for the Kuna," said Steve Kramer, Vice President of Marketing for Springfield Armory. "The Kuna was engineered to provide shooters with a ruggedly reliable and capable 9mm, so receiving this recognition means a great deal to us here at Springfield Armory."
