SCI and TTHA Name Congressman August Pfluger as 2026 Lone Star Wildlife Champion

Dallas, TX — Safari Club International (SCI) and Texas Trophy Hunters Association (TTHA) proudly announced Congressman August Pfluger as the recipient of the 2026 Lone Star Wildlife Champion Award. This prestigious honor recognizes individuals whose actions—not just words—demonstrate an unwavering commitment to hunting, conservation, and preserving the outdoor heritage that defines Texas.

Congressman Pfluger, a seventh-generation Texan, lifelong outdoorsman, and Eagle Scout, developed his deep respect for land and wildlife early in life in West Texas. A passionate hunter, his personal connection to the outdoors is widely known.

Beyond his contributions in the field, Congressman Pfluger's service to the nation is exemplary. A graduate of the U.S. Air Force Academy, he served 20 years on active duty as an Air Force fighter pilot and commander, flying the F-15 and F-22. He completed more than 2,000 flight hours—including combat missions—and rose to the rank of Colonel. Today, he continues to serve in the Air Force Reserve.

As the representative for Texas's 11th Congressional District, Pfluger has consistently championed the interests of sportsmen and women, defended hunting traditions, and supported policies that strengthen conservation and responsible wildlife management. His leadership embodies the spirit of the Lone Star State: respect for the outdoors, responsibility to wildlife, and a commitment to ensuring that hunting and conservation endure for generations to come.
