Lear Asset Management, ANP Technologies Team for Contaminated Cannabis Testing

California has been a leader in legalizing recreational marijuana.  When the law went into effect in 2017, many people felt that black market marijuana production in the state, which has been rampant, would simply disappear. Not the case. Based on reports from local, state and federal law enforcement agencies who deal with illegal marijuana cultivation, especially in wildlands, production of black market marijuana in trespass gardens on wildlands has increased. https://grizzle.com/marijuana-legalization-black-market/

Typically, illegal trespass marijuana grows are cultivated on state and federal parks and forests. According to Lt. John Nores, head of the game wardens tactical unit, 4,000-6,000 people work in these grows every year, and at best local, state and federal law enforcement can get only about 10% of the grow. To make matters worse, not only are these grows illegal, but the growers typically use illegal black market pesticides and fertilizers which are highly toxic to wildlife, fish and people. The toll on the environment is huge.

Due to the extreme proliferation of contaminated cannabis in the state of California, and other states that are in the forefront of the quagmire of legalization (illegal trespass grows have been found in National Forests in at least 27 states and Canada), millions of pounds of contaminated cannabis makes its way into markets without distributors or buyers realizing what is actually in or on it.

Lear Asset Management https://www.learasset.com/home, a specialized security Firm working with Law Enforcement in the Pacific Northwest, has been working with corporations, private land owners, non-profit wildlife conservation groups, and government land managers, to eradicate illegal grows and conduct reclamation of toxic and contaminated sites for over 8 years. Lear is no stranger to contaminated cannabis. It is all too typical in illegal grows. https://thecrimereport.org/2017/08/14/fighting-drug-cartels-in-californias-emerald-triangle/

Contact with toxic pesticides, fertilizers and rodent poisons is extremely dangerous not only to law enforcement, but also those who buy and use toxic marijuana – particularly when smoked as this method completely bypasses any first order metabolism, going directly into the bloodstream. Conventionally, one must send samples of plants, soil and water to a laboratory for testing which takes valuable time and increases the risk of exposure – especially in the field. Lear has been field screening illicit garden cannabis for four years now with a rapid, military grade sensor technology that helps ensures the safety of its contractors before handling potentially contaminated materials. The sensor is manufactured by ANP Technologies, Inc. (ANP), who originally developed the technology for the U.S. military to rapidly detect chemical nerve agents in drinking/source water utilizing its patented Nano-Intelligent Detection System (NIDS®) technology. ANP is also a premier provider of other rapid detection solutions including its NIDS®-3000  BioThreat Detection System which is currently fielded by all branches of the military and national/air national guards within all 50 states. The commercial version of this system is also deployed by first responders (fire and police), FEMA, DHS and other institutions across the country as well as internationally to various countries and our allies.

ANP has teamed up with Lear to test trespass cannabis for toxic chemical agents in banned pesticides used in outlaw marijuana gardens. Lear Asset has been utilizing this technology to safeguard its personnel who handle potentially contaminated materials. To date, it has saved the lives of countless people, fish and animals while also protecting the environment as a whole from further run-off and exposure to these toxic compounds.

ANP and Lear are now offering this technology to all agencies, and personnel who recognize the potentially significant harm that can result from handling dangerously contaminated materials. The ACE-CB1000 device is a ruggedized, hand held reader which quickly and accurately  screens for  more than 67% of all category I compounds and 30% of all category II compounds in the field in 5 to 12 minutes. This device has been independently validated by the U.S. Army and the EPA. A link to the army report can be found herehttps://www.hsdl.org/?view&did=758984
