Public and Media Invited to Event
The Alabama Wildlife and Freshwater Fisheries Division (WFF) will hold a grand opening ceremony for the Cahaba River Wildlife Management Area (WMA) Shooting Range at 9 a.m. on Thursday, December 7, 2017. The media and public are invited to attend the event.
The shooting range was closed for renovations and cleanup following the Colonial Pipeline gasoline spill in 2016. The range is located on Localmont Road approximately 10 minutes southwest of Helena, Ala. GPS coordinates: 33 deg. 14" 49.00" N 86 deg. 54' 05.37" W.
During the closure, WFF renovated and expanded the shooting range. Improvements and additions include: 50-yard and 25-yard berms, new covered shooting shelters, new shooting benches and an expanded parking area.
Winter hours for the Cahaba River WMA Shooting Range will be 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. each Wednesday throughSunday (closed Mondays and Tuesdays). WFF staff will be onsite during operating hours.
A valid hunting, wildlife heritage, fishing, or WMA license is required for all shooting range users between the ages of 16-64. Licenses are available online at www.outdooralabama.com.
