This Week on The Revolution: Fighting for Conservation

This week on The Revolution with Jim and Trav presented by Outdoor Channel, Sportsman Channel, World Fishing Network, we're fighting for conservation. So, what does it take to maintain a healthy wildlife population, to restore endangered species and preserve failing ecosystems? It takes significant funding, perseverance and capable volunteers on the ground. That's why we're going to acutely focus on wildlife education and community involvement, because without these two functions long-term conservation isn't possible. Joining us for an in-depth, exclusive, three-part interview will be Ivan Carter of CARTER'S W.A.R., plus scientist, wildlife expert and conservationist, Shane Mahoney.

Ivan Carter
Ivan Carter is a conservationist, wildlife photographer, professional hunting guide and the host of Carter's W.A.R. on Outdoor Channel. Ivan's passion for conservation is inspiring and he joins The Revolution to talk with Jim and Trav in a three-part interview about trophy hunting, poaching and conservation's future. Tune in to find out why trophy hunting truly is conservation and how the money spent by hunters is used to benefit wildlife and their habitat. Ivan will also explain how the withdrawal of trophy hunting in western Tanzania has left wildlife without value and in trouble. "It's living proof of what a disaster it is when you close trophy hunting in an area."

Shane Mahoney
Shane Mahoney is a scientist, wildlife expert and conservationist as well as the President and CEO of Conservation Visions. Tune in as he joins Jim and Trav to talk about the future of conservation in North America and around the globe. Based on the underfunding of conservation in the United States, Jim and Trav say it would appear that conservation isn't a priority to the masses. However, as someone who works extensively on conservation efforts, Shane says, "Conservation remains important to a segment of the public, but it never seems to transcend to a political level where it's important to everyone." Shane says that governments are challenged with a great deal of responsibilities, but going forward conservation is going to become more important.

Wildlife Conservation
Tune in as Jim, Trav and Mrs. Bunny talk about some current wildlife conservation topics. They'll discuss the recent recommendation by the Interagency Grizzly Bear Committee to remove the grizzlies in the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem from the Endangered Species Act. Then they'll talk about a recent law signed by Michigan Governor Rick Snyder that would authorize wolf hunting if Congress or federal courts revisit the issue. Finally, they'll highlight a possible solution to the invasive Asian Carp that are infiltrating waterways. Riverine Fisheries International plans to use a factory fishing vessel on the Mississippi River to catch and process Asian carp into food products to be exported to 20 countries. Tune in to find out more.
