Louisville, KY - In reaction to the continued growth of their youth archery program, Scholastic 3-D Archery has named Dan Schuller as the new S3DA Pennsylvania State Coordinator. As the State Coordinator, Dan will oversee all aspects of the S3DA program in Pennsylvania, including tournaments, training and dividing the state into regions that will allow S3DA participants multiple monthly competition venues as close as possible to their home location. Dan will also recruit and hire Regional Coordinators to oversee and manage these individual
regions.
"S3DA is extremely excited to have Dan come on board," says Michael Lundeen, National Director for S3DA. "His extensive competitive experience coupled with his knowledge of the industry is going to give Pennsylvania a huge jump start and we look for great things to happen
quickly"
Rob Kaufhold, President of Lancaster Archery Supply added, "As someone who has known and worked with Jennie Richardson from S3DA for many years, I am honored to be able to offer Dan Schuller's world-class expertise and dedication to our efforts promoting S3DA in Pennsylvania and across the USA. He will have the full support of both the Lancaster Archery Academy, with Heather Pfeil and her team of dedicated coaches, along with the other archery professionals here at Lancaster Archery Supply. Dan will be working from his home office in western PA, while Heather and the Lancaster Archery Academy staff, provide support in the southeast region of the state."
Dan grew up in Mercer, PA. and started shooting 3-D archery at the age of 6 with a recurve bow. He quickly developed a great passion for shooting and joined the local JOAD club Gold – N –Grain Archery. Throughout his competitive career Dan has won 10 Jr. National Championships, the 2008 Outdoor Senior National Championship, competed on 3 Junior World Teams and represented the US at various international events. Dan was also a member of the US Archery Team from 2005-2012. From 2006 - 2008, Dan trained at the US Olympic Training Center in Chula Vista, CA. In 2012 he graduated from Penn State University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Management. Following his graduation, Dan and his wife, Maureen Schuller, relocated to Lancaster, PA. and began working for Lancaster Archery Supply as a Customer Service TechXpert Representative. In his free time Dan enjoys spending time outdoors and bowhunting. Dan is currently in the process of training to make the 2016 Olympic Team. He qualified for the top 16 cut last September and is currently ranked 11th in the trial process. Two trials remain in the selection process where the top 3 archers will earn a spot to compete at the 2016 Olympic Games.
In reaction to being named Pennsylvania State Coordinator for S3DA, Dan says, "I believe that S3DA creates a great avenue to introduce archers into the sport. I am excited to help assist in the growth of archery through S3DA."
Started in December 2012 by the Scholastic Archery Association, S3DA has grown exponentially as a next step program to follow introductory programs offered as part of 4-H or the National Archery in Schools Program. S3DA addresses the need for a program to bridge beginning target archery experience and more advanced activities such as 3-D shooting and bowhunting. The program currently operates across the United States with hundreds of certified coaches serving thousands of young archers, grades 3–12.
