Annual celebration to offer sales and activities Oct. 8 through Oct. 18

MITCHELL, S.D. – Cabela's Mitchell location will host the company's annual Pheasant Classic event with sales, giveaways, guest appearances, seminars, family activities, sponsor exhibits and more Thursday, Oct. 8th through Sunday, Oct. 18th.

The celebration of South Dakota's upcoming pheasant season will kick-off Thursday, Oct. 8 with special in-store prices and registration to win Cabela's gift cards valued up to $1,000. More than $10,000 in total value will be offered in the drawing. Gift card winners will be announced Sunday, Oct. 18.

In-store events, including special appearances, seminars, family activities, sponsor exhibits, product demonstrations and more, will take place Oct. 15 through Oct. 18. Special appearances include:

Tom Dokken, inventor of Dokken's DeadFowl Trainer and author/founder of Dokken Dog Supply – 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday, Oct. 16
Benny Spies, Cabela's Ambassador and host of "Gun It with Benny Spies" television show – 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday, Oct. 16.
Scott Linden, host of "Wingshooting USA" television show – 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday, Oct. 16 and 8 to 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 17

Additionally, the store will host the Cabela's Banded Bird Contest for customers 18 years and older who register and legally harvest a specially banded pheasant during the South Dakota pheasant season, Saturday, Oct. 17 through Sunday, Jan. 3rd. This contest will offer more than $10,000 in prizes, including three Beretta firearms and seven - $50 Cabela's gift cards.

"According to the South Dakota Wildlife Division, the 2015 pheasant brood survey increased 42 percent compared to 2014," said Trish Oswald, Marketing Specialist for Cabela's Mitchell location. Extended store hours during Cabela's Pheasant Classic are: 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 15; 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. Friday, Oct. 16; 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 17; and 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 18.
