CPW Reminds Hunters Of Extended Office Hours

DENVER - Colorado Parks and Wildlife extends office hours to include Saturdays at select offices throughout the state during big game rifle season, Oct. 10 to Nov. 15.

"Extended hours provides hunters with additional times to find information, purchase a license or personally contact customer service representatives with questions, said Matt Robbins, CPW's Public Information Manager. "It helps get everyone out in the field and hunting, and also provides hunters with needed resources."

One of the services offered at service centers is in-person verification of hunter education certification. Hunter education is required in Colorado for all hunters born on or after Jan. 1, 1949. Anyone who has completed this requirement in another state, refer to that state to obtain a copy of their hunter education card. Classes fill quickly, go to http://cpw.state.co.us/learn/Pages/HunterEducation.aspx to check availability.

In addition, although incidents remain low, CPW continues to monitor chronic wasting disease. Chronic wasting disease testing is still available, contact CPW for submission locations. Learn more at http://cpw.state.co.us/learn/Pages/ResearchCWD.aspx.

Several hundred thousand hunters will head to the field beginning in early October to hunt a variety of big game. Hunting is one of the most popular outdoor activities in Colorado and serves as a great opportunity to experience the outdoors.

CPW is an enterprise agency, relying primarily on license sales, state parks fees and registration fees to support its operations, including: 42 state parks and more than 350 wildlife areas covering approximately 900,000 acres, big-game management, hunting, fishing, wildlife watching, camping, motorized and nonmotorized trails, boating and outdoor education. CPW's work contributes approximately $6 billion in total economic impact annually throughout Colorado.
