Plymouth, Minn. - Outdoor News, Inc., publisher of locally written fishing and hunting outdoor newspapers in the seven Great Lakes states, announced the promotion of veteran journalist, Joe Albert, to the title of editor for the company's Minnesota weekly publication.
Albert has been a staff writer with Outdoor News publications for the past 10 years, and officially took the lead editorial responsibility for Minnesota Outdoor News on Jan. 1, 2015. The shift transitioned efforts previously handled by company president, Robert A. Drieslein, who continues in the role as managing editor over the company's seven state-specific titles.
Prior to joining Outdoor News in 2004, Albert worked on the sports desk at the Fargo Forum throughout his college years in Moorhead, Minn. He graduated with a degree in print journalism from Moorhead's Concordia College in 2002, and worked two years at the Echo Press in Alexandria, Minn.
"Like the other writers at Outdoor News, Joe brings a solid foundation and genuine passion for the outdoors lifestyle. He has earned this career step through his leadership and instinctive editorial talent," Drieslein said. As an independent author, Albert has published two crime novels with an outdoor adventure emphasis.
Albert, who lives with his wife and two young children, lists the outdoors, reading, and writing among his favorite hobbies, but added: "In addition to spending time with my family, I'll fish for just about anything and really enjoy deer hunting." Albert's duties with the Outdoor News Publications for the past decade have largely been writing news and feature stories. His first official contribution as the editor for Minnesota Outdoor News debuted on Page 3 of the Jan. 2, 2015 edition.
