SYRACUSE, NEW YORK - ScoutLook is the leading provider of cutting-edge weather tools and high-class content for hunters and fishermen. The 4-year-old outdoor media company reached a significant milestone this week: Hunters and fishermen across the country have downloaded more than 1 million ScoutLook apps.
"When my partner, Cy Weichert, and I set out to build ScoutLook and its mobile apps, we never imagined we'd cross the 1-million user mark," said ScoutLook Co-Founder Bill Little. "But working hard to listen to our community and having a great team in place made it possible. And we are really fired up about what's in development now for an updated version of ScoutLook-it is a game-changer!"
The inception of ScoutLook took place when Weichert and Little were sitting in deer camp one morning, trying to plan their day's hunt. They had an epiphany when their hand-written deer logs, weather resources and maps filled the dining room table, leaving them with no room to set down their breakfast plates. "There has got to be a better way," was the shared thought that morning-a repeated theme that has led to countless innovations among motivated American entrepreneurs. Both men headed to their treestands and exchanged a series of text messages about combining all of a hunter's planning tools into one system with smartphone apps. That's also when the name "ScoutLook" was born, and the rest is recent history.
"I wake up every day and go to work for ScoutLook, and when I'm pouring my morning coffee I often have to pinch myself," explained ScoutLook Communications & Media Director Josh Dahlke. "What Cy and Bill have managed to accomplish in just over 4 years is mind boggling-especially in this industry. One million is a magic number, and I'm proud to serve each and every one of our users with tools and content that have been proven to make their hunting and fishing experiences more enjoyable and successful."
ScoutLook is in the midst of full redevelopment, a major undertaking that will officially launch before the summer of 2015. This encompasses a complete reconstruction of its website and apps, including a refinement of existing features and the addition of powerful new tools for hunters and fishermen, along with beefed up editorial and original series content.
"You can sleep when you're dead," said Weichert. "We are committed to burning the candle at both ends to build ScoutLook into a true powerhouse, and it shows that our efforts are paying off. We couldn't do this without the overwhelming support of our users and our sponsors, and for that we are thankful and blessed."
