FMG's Kakkuri Reviews Concealed Boot Knife Carry

Whether it's a handgun, knife or any other type of accessory, comfort is a major factor when it comes to carrying concealed. FMG Publications online editor Mark Kakkuri delivers the scoop on the latest and greatest gear on the market, and also gives insightful responses to reader questions.

In a GUNS Magazine online-only article, Kakkuri talks knives and cowboy boots, detailing how Gerber's Ghoststrike Fixed Blade Deluxe doesn't force boot lovers to sacrifice style for safety, while also comfortably carrying a hidden backup knife. The online exclusive can be found at gunsmagazine.com/exclusive-boot-knives-and-cowboy-boots/.

"A traditional boot knife in a leather sheath takes up a bit of space in a cowboy boot and therefore may be uncomfortable and even rub your leg raw after just a few steps," write Kakkuri. "The Ghoststrike, however, rides firmly and comfortably, even if you install it against your skin, under a sock."

Kakkuri also reviews White Hat Holsters' Max Tuck IWB for carrying the Walther PPX concealed, addressing users' primary challenge with toting this pistol- its size. His online article on American Handgunner also answers two bonus questions regarding pistols: What's the best ammo, and what other gear should I get for it? The article can be read at americanhandgunner.com/exclusive-how-to-carry-the-walther-ppx-concealed-chuck/.

"Given the gun's beefy slide and curved stocks, the 'How will it carry?' question is fair," writes Kakkuri. "The PPX is a great fit for any police officer's duty holster, but Walther's more civilian fans may desire to carry the PPX for personal defense. While Max Tuck is adjustable for depth and cant, it held the PPX at my preferred 3 o'clock position, canting it just enough to put the stocks more up than out, hiding them."
