Practical Edge Junior Shooting Team Shines at USPSA Nationals

The most recent Front Sight article proclaimed Kennewick, Washington is a "talent hotbed" when it comes to junior competitors in USPSA practical pistol. This assertion was made in reference to the "Practical Edge Junior Shooting Team". Their performance at the 2014 Handgun Nationals competition was yet another proof positive example. Practical Edge was the only junior team represented at the Nationals. They were proudly represented by three very talented team members competing in the Open Division.

For 17 year old Mikayla Blosser it was just her 2nd time competing at the Nationals. Mikayla put forth a solid performance coming in at 9th Overall in A class, 5th Overall Lady, and 7th in junior class. Mikayla was quoted as saying "The Nationals were very motivational for me. Getting to shoot with all my teammates, helps to keep the atmosphere upbeat and also helps to lessen the pressures of competition. The lessons I am learning will only help me grow in my abilities and I am very thankful to have had the experience.

Sixteen year old Shane Hill has been shooting Open Division for 2 years and made his debut at the Nationals this year. Shane came into this 4 day, 28 stage match with his sights set on 1st Place in B Class. This being his first year competing at Nationals Shane's hard work, ethics, discipline and ethics helped him get very close to his goal, taking 2nd place in Open Division B Class and 8th in Junior class.

Last but not least, 16 year old Jaret Maynard, competing in only his second USPSA Handgun Nationals, finished as 4th Junior Overall with an 8th place in Master Class. This being just his third year of competitive shooting, Jaret said he learned a lot from his experience this year. He is ready to get back to the range to work on his visual patience explaining "It was fun yet difficult at times to shoot in the challenging conditions. Jaret also stated that, "he loved the challenge of the stages," but he found himself scoring targets at times breaking his concentration. In looking back he said, "I wish I would have trusted myself more." Valuable lessons he hopes build on as he ready's himself for competition next year.

The Practical Edge Junior Shooting Team is sponsored by "Blade-Tech Industries" and use Blade-Tech holsters and accessories when competing.
