The Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries (LDWF) is advising hunters that hunting seasons on Kisatchie National Forest (KNF) will remain as scheduled in the 2013-2014 Louisiana Hunting Regulations pamphlet. With the recent federal government shutdown still in effect, hunters are also advised of the following:
- Primitive weapons hunts scheduled for October 19-20 will remain open on all of KNF units.
- On Catahoula and Red Dirt National Wildlife Management Preserves, the mandatory deer check requirement will be waived during the weekend of October 19-20.
- On Catahoula and Red Dirt National Wildlife Management Preserves, the Self-Clearing Permit requirement will be waived during the weekend of October 19-20.
- Hunters are reminded that on Catahoula and Red Dirt National Wildlife Management Preserves, a mandatory Annual Use Permit will still be required. These permits are available at the check stations located on the preserves, as well as on the KNF website.
