REFUGIO, Texas- Dan Braman and Jimmy Brown are polar opposites sharing a common interest.
One pursues life with the intensity of an overachiever. A hardcore professional guide and passionate hunter who approaches each day as a new challenge.
The other is a fun-loving outdoorsman who tries his best to balance work and play. He's known to trade shotgun for surfboard when the gobblers are stubborn and the surf is up.
It's easy to match contrasting personalities to names of the real characters by watching WildLifers, a new series airing on NBC Sports Outdoors and Time Warner SportsNet in Texas. WildLifers takes a firsthand look at life behind the scenes of Mellon Creek Outfitters. It's a 110,000-acre ranch in south Texas offering premier free-range hunting for trophy game.
Braman is a guide at Mellon Creek Outfitters. It's an intense, high-pressure job that demands discipline and grit to put clients on the trophy of a lifetime. Brown is the laid back marketing man you'll find at the lodge.
"When it comes to hunting he's got to be the best," said Brown of his partner. "For me it's always been a privilege and just a real fun thing to do."
"We're like night and day," added Braman. "He's night and I'm day. It can be serious and hilarious. But at the end of the day we've gotten the job done, sometimes not to my satisfaction. But done."
WildLifers is a hunting show to the core. At Mellon Creek Outfitters you'll watch episodes about big game thriving in lush habitat carefully managed by the ranch. Trophy whitetail bucks roam in a free-range hunting environment. Long beard gobblers overflow the mesquite thickets. If bobcats are what you want, Dan has the hounds to do it.
WildLifers TV cameras follow every move of Braman and Brown, from their daily jobs to hunts they'll take around the globe. For the first season they travel to Argentina for free-range blackbuck and Florida for Osceola turkeys. You'll find them in New Mexico hunting for black bear and elsewhere in search of spring longbeards.
"One of our goals at Mellon Creek Outfitters is to provide our clients with the latest cutting-edge tactics and techniques," said Braman. "To do that means gaining experience by hunting big game animals around the world."
WildLifers airs on NBC Sports Network each Friday at 5:30 a.m. (EST) and Sunday at 6 a.m. (EST).
Texas sportsmen can watch WildLifers on the Time Warner CableSports Net. The show airs Monday at 4:30 a.m. (CST) and again on Tuesday at 10:30 p.m. (CST).

Don't be surprised to see Braman and Brown get tangled up in their daily antics. It's not an act, just part of a show about two opposites that clash in a fresh, new approach to outdoor television.
