SAN ANGELO, Texas- Hospice of San Angelo received a check or $16,000, representing proceeds from the Suddenlink Tony Gibson Memorial Fishing Tournament held March 3 at Lake O.H. Ivie. The check was presented at Saturday's event, immediately following the presentation of checks to the tournament winners.
The tournament is named in memory of avid fisherman and San Angelo Bass Club member Tony Gibson. Gibson was a winner at the first Suddenlink fishing tournament in 2009. The Suddenlink Tony Gibson Memorial Tournament goes a long way toward helping us keep this promise," said HOSA Executive Director David McBride. "On behalf of the Board of Directors, the staff, and the volunteers of Hospice of San Angelo, I thank Suddenlink for the caring about our community."
The 2012 tournament, which drew 133 participants in all age groups, was presented by Suddenlink Communications, in partnership with the San Angelo Bass Club. This year's tournament featured added support from the Outdoor Channel and public appearances Friday and Saturday by Joe Thomas, host of on the Outdoor Channel.
