Minnetonka, MN & New York, NY - North American Membership Group (NAMG), the world's largest lifestyle affinity club organization, announced effective Thursday that Michael Cassidy has assumed the role of Group Publisher for North American Fisherman and North American Hunter, overseeing its print, digital, television and sponsorship sales activities. Cassidy, who joined NAMG in August of 2010, will also continue his role as Publisher of both The History Channel Magazine and of the MLB Insiders Club Magazine.
Michael Cassidy is a life-long sales executive who has spent many years promoting a multitude of media assets, including internet, print, and television, throughout his career in the publishing industry. Prior to joining NAMG, Cassidy was with The Walt Disney Company as their Senior Director of Sales and Sponsorship Fulfillment for their ESPN Outdoors and BASS franchise. In this position he was responsible for the oversight of all aspects of ESPN Outdoors and BASS advertising, media, sales and sponsorships including ESPN2 Outdoors Block, ESPNOutdoors.com, Bassmaster.com, National Media Sales, and BASS publications. Before joining ESPN in 2005, he had a rewarding career in the publishing industry as the Associate Publisher, Eastern Advertising Director at Time4 Outdoors where he represented such magazines as Field & Stream, Outdoor Life and SHOT Business; and served as Publisher of Guns & Ammo, Handguns, and Military Classics magazines at PRIMEDIA.
Michael grew up in Rye, NY. He graduated from St. Thomas University with a M.P.S. Masters Degree in Professional Studies Executive Management and a Bachelors Degree in Organizational Leadership. Michael was the recipient of St. Thomas University's prestigious "Communicator of the Year" award in 2007. He continues an active relationship with St. Thomas University as an Adjunct Professor teaching organizational behavior. Michael proudly served as a Chief Warrant Officer (Ret.) of the New York State Guard and currently serves as a delegate representing the United States at the CIC International Council for Game and Wildlife Conservation and well as sitting on the Board of Directors for both the Recreational Boating and Fishing Foundation and Bonefish and Tarpon Trust.
Michael retains a passion for collecting books, world travel, including numerous African safaris, and the great outdoors. It is because of these passions that Michael is active in many charities and fundraisers, including the Boy Scouts of America, Congressional Sportsmen's Foundation, African Ministries International, First Christ Ministries, Hunter's for the Homeless, Rock of Africa Mission, and Safari Cares.
He also is a life member of numerous organizations including Knight's of Columbus, Explorer's Club, International Game Fish Association, Islamorada Fishing Club, National Rifle Association, National Wild Turkey Federation, Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation, Dallas Safari Club, and Safari Club International. Michael's love of family coupled with his passion for education and his catholic heritage is readily evident as he currently chairs the Sean Matthew Cassidy Building Fund Campaign. This campaign was created to honor in memoriam his brother Sean and Sean's passion for education, the environment, and the St. Thomas University community by building a 100% "green" facility to house several departments of the St. Thomas University's School of Leadership Studies. When he's not out enjoying the "great outdoors," Michael lives in Windermere, Florida, with his wife Shery and their nine children.
