IDFG Wants Input on Proposed Waterfowl and Sage Grouse Seasons

IDAHO FALLS - Biologists with the Idaho Department of Fish & Game (IDFG) are seeking input on proposals for upcoming waterfowl and sage grouse hunting seasons for this fall.

Proposed waterfowl regulations changes must fit within the season and species framework dictated by the United States Fish & Wildlife Service (USFWS), while sage grouse regulations are drafted at the state level. For waterfowl, the Department has three different season options for Eastern Idaho waterfowl hunters that it is asking for comment on. One option is similar to past seasons with consecutive season days, the other options involve a variation of split dates, one early or one later in the season.

Detailed descriptions of the proposals are available at regional IDFG offices and on the IDFG website.

Anyone wishing to review proposals and give comment can do so at the Upper Snake Regional Office on Monday, August 8th through August 10th from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. The office is located at 4279 Commerce Circle in the St. Leon Business Park in Idaho Falls. Further information about the proposed seasons is available at the IDFG website at http://fishandgame.idaho.gov.

Individuals with disabilities can contact Daryl Meints at the Idaho Department of Fish & Game at 208-525-7290 or through the Idaho Relay Service at 1-800-377-3529(TDD). Comments can be sent via E-mail to daryl.meints@idfg.idaho.gov. The deadline for all comments is 5:00 P.M. on August 10, 2011.
