WHAT: Celebration of the successful acquisition of the 62.3-mile corridor for the Monon South Trail, which will be Indiana’s longest recreational trail.

BACKGROUND: The Monon South Trail will connect seven communities and five counties. The trail project, which was announced by Gov. Holcomb in his 2023 Indiana State of the State address, is receiving a $29.5 million investment from his Next Level Trails initiative, including the purchase of the corridor and funding to support trail construction. Approximately 440,000 people live within 10 miles of the trail’s path, providing a key recreational and economic boost for the region.
New Albany will own and manage the portion of the trail in Floyd County. Radius Indiana will be responsible for the trail in Clark, Washington, Orange, and Lawrence counties.
