Bowhunter Education Course Scheduled in Billings July 26 – 27

Registration is currently open for an in-person Bowhunter Education class in Billings. The course will be held at the Billings Rod & Gun Club on Saturday, July 26, and Sunday, July 27. Students can register online for this course here. Upon registration, students will need to pick up a course manual from the Billings FWP office, located at 2300 Lake Elmo Drive.

To purchase a Montana bow-and-arrow license, a hunter must complete a certified bowhunter education course, or show any prior year's bowhunting license from any state or province. FWP strongly encourages students to register for a class or field day for online students as soon as possible, as most classes and field days are completed by July 31.

During in-person classes, students learn how to handle archery equipment safely, basic survival skills, hunting ethics, wildlife management, game identification, landowner-hunter relations, and Montana hunting laws and regulations. These classes are taught by certified volunteer instructors who are passionate about preserving Montana’s hunting tradition, teaching archery equipment safety, ethics, and other outdoor skills. Students must be at least 11 years old to participate in a Bowhunter Education class. In-person classes are free.
