Bush Hog, the inventors of the rotary cutter for clearing brush, has renewed their Whitetails Unlimited National Sponsorship. “We’re proud that Bush Hog is continuing as a Whitetails Unlimited national sponsor and is helping support our conservation mission,” said WTU President Jeff Schinkten. “Bush Hog developed the rotary cutter for clearing brush seven decades ago, and anyone who has established a food plot by cutting brush by hand to will think a Bush Hog is something delivered by Heaven. They are incredibly well-made, durable, and able to eat up everything above ground including small trees. They are truly amazing, and we’re excited to have them in the Whitetails Unlimited family.”
The first Bush Hog was the Model 12, a five-foot wide rotary cutter and was the first such device of its kind in 1951. It was handmade at the rate of one per week in a dirt-floor factory in Selma, Alabama. It was built to last using heavy gauge steel, was painted by hand, cost $320, and revolutionized how farmers managed their fields. Today, Bush Hog operates a modern, automated production facility with robotic welders that produce 17 different product lines to cut, mow, till, dig, spread, and plow.
