Pendleton Whisky today announced that the brand has been named as the official whisky of Western Sports Foundation (WSF), the non-profit organization dedicated to enhancing the overall success of western sports athletes by advancing their wellbeing. Named after the iconic Pendleton Round-Up rodeo, Pendleton Whisky was created to celebrate the spirit of the American Cowboy. The announcement comes as Pendleton Whisky prepares to make its debut as a WSF sponsor at the Professional Bull Riders (PBR) World Finals in Las Vegas, Nov. 3-7.
Founded as the Rider Relief Fund in 1998 following bull rider Jerome Davis’ career-ending injury, WSF has a 23-year history of caring for athletes and their families. The foundation’s mission is to support total athlete wellness, acknowledging the sacrifices made by those competing in western lifestyle sports, and helping them maintain emotional, mental, physical and financial health through educational workshops, personal training and one-on-one counseling.
“The alliance with Pendleton Whisky makes our relationship official, and that was long overdue,” said Western Sports Foundation Executive Director Aubrey O’Quinn. “We share the Pendleton Whisky brand’s passion for honoring the heritage of the American Cowboy and ensuring that the lifestyle we care so much about remains healthy and vibrant for generations to come.”
WSF receives philanthropic support from individuals and organizations throughout the western sports community nationwide. Financial contributions also come from special events such as those sponsored by Pendleton Whisky at the PBR World Finals, including a WSF Top Golf Tournament Nov. 4 and a Corks for Cowboys event Friday, Nov. 5 in Las Vegas.
