Classes to be held at CMP’s Talladega Marksmanship Park this fall include:

Oct. 26-28, 2021 – International Association of Law Enforcement Firearms Instructors Master Instructor Development Program

The International Association of Law Enforcement Firearms Instructors (IALEFI) is an independent, non-profit membership organization formed in 1981 by a group of dedicated law enforcement professionals. The group recognized the need to update and modernize the instruction and teaching techniques used to train law enforcement officers in firearms and use of force, creating informational programs along the way.

The Master Instructor Development Program (MIDP) is a three-day course designed to continue education for individuals already certified as firearm instructors for handgun, rifle and shotgun. The course will include more advanced hands-on skill progress, with emphasis on practical marksmanship and operational proficiencies. The info discussed in the MIDP will be particularly useful in creating a positive training experience that will result in greater officer safety.

Topics to be covered will include:

  • range safety
  • review of shooting fundamentals/positions
  • operational skills
  • basic tactics such as movement, use of cover, light management, etc.
  • shooter remediation
  • adult learning concepts
  • coaching strategies
  • course design

Registration for the MIDP will end Oct. 20, 2021. Cost of the course is $450 for IALEFI members and $505 for non-members (which includes a one-year membership upon completion and approval of an application).

Only 24 spots are open for the MIDP, so register now!

Dec. 13-17, 2021 – NRA Law Enforcement Handgun/Shotgun Instructor Development School

The National Rifle Association (NRA) Firearm Instructor Development School is a week-long course for public and private law enforcement officers and military personnel, meant to enhance both instructor and firearms handling skills with the ultimate goal of effectively preparing officers to win potentially dangerous encounters.

The curriculum is designed to prepare individuals to conduct safe, effective, reality bases and agency-related firearm training on shooting techniques, training methods and tactical philosophies. The course will utilize both classroom instruction and practical exercises on the range, allowing students to build their own agency programs.

Price for the course is $685 per student. Participants must have a good working knowledge of firearms prior to attending the school and must be a private or public law enforcement officer, a retired or previously employed law enforcement officer, a current member of the United States military or a GSA-approved government contractor.

Schools are limited in size, so apply soon!
