Jeff Quinn, Gunblast.com

Today, we were advised of the passing of gun media personality and personal friend Jeff Quinn of Gunblast.com. Starting a “gun magazine on the internet,” he was convinced that video would draw people into the gun review text and photos pages. He told me he was wrong about that, the videos were the tail that wagged the dog.

He’s described on the Gunblast “about” page as follows: “Jeff is a full-grown child who lives in the woods next to a national wildlife refuge in Tennessee. He has always loved guns and shooting, and really enjoys writing about the things he loves. Born in 1959, Jeff is a Benefactor Life Member of the NRA, a Shootist, a conservative, and a Baptist. You may not agree with his opinions on guns, politics, or life in general, but he will still give them freely to all who will listen!”

A frequent companion at media events and trade shows, he’s been called “the most generous man in the business,” something I witnessed on a regular basis. Jeff had been suffering a long time with health issues, but you’d never know it to hear him talk.

He was a friend and a colleague, someone I looked up to as a man of faith with a remarkable sense of humor. Jeff was 61 years old.

We'll all miss him.
