Quail and Upland Wildlife Federation Partners with American Falconry Conservancy

Buffalo, MO: With the signing of a joint Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), two great grass roots conservation organizations, the Quail and Upland Wildlife Federation (QUWF) and the American Falconry Conservancy (AFC) are combining forces to meet the challenges of wildlife habitat restoration and clean streams across the country while preserving the truly historical value and sport of falconry. “Nothing in this world is accomplished unless the first strong foundation is laid to build on. QUWF has dedicated itself to assisting and working the very grass roots ownership of the lands, the private landowner, the true and strongest corner stone of conservation. Now with a like-minded group of the AFC, who truly understands the need of wildlife habitat preservation and restoration, we hope through joint efforts, education and on the ground habitat work, to get the message out to more sportsman, landowners, partners and supporters” explains Craig Alderman, Founder of QUWF.

“Falconry is a dedicated and passionate sport of true natural understanding, untold years of gradual and patient training, creating skills that are constantly honed by every handler, much a-kin to training the finest hunting dogs, albeit with a natural hunter on the wing. The compassion and true respect for the natural course of nature is the guiding core value. We, as falconers, also understand if we do not work to help protect and preserve the wildlife and its critical habitat, no upland game sport can survive of any type. That is why this partnership is so important. QUWF understands and works these values every day, not from a 10,000-foot view but from boots on the ground, “turnin-the-dirt”, one acre, one stream at a time, action points. The true building blocks of Conservation” states Laura Hazelett, President of the American Falconry Conservancy.

“This exciting partnership is truly about the exceptional passion of conservation. This brings common goals together for the same success across the country with like-minded people. It allows a better education opportunity to our landowners and the general public of both organizations dedicated to our wildlife, its habitat and the enjoyment by so many” emphasizes Nick Prough Chief Wildlife Biologist of QUWF.
