USA Archery Releases New Adaptive Archery Videos

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colorado - USA Archery has released new adaptive archery videos. As the National Governing Body for the Olympic and Paralympic sport of archery, one of USA Archery's core missions is to grow and promote the sport at all levels and for archers of all abilities by providing the necessary tools and resources for coaches and club leaders nationwide. The additional videos are a new addition to the existing Adaptive Video Series USA Archery developed in Partnership with Disabled Sports USA.

The new videos are available here and on USA Archery's Mobile Coach Platform. The new videos include:

  • How to Shoot a Compound Bow with Your Feet
  • How to Shoot a Compound Bow from a Wheelchair
  • How to Shoot a Compound Bow Visually Impaired
  • How to Coach Adaptive Archers

The videos illustrate how coaches can make slight modifications to equipment or teaching technique to ensure everyone can achieve success. It is our hope that the tools included in this video series as well as the USA Archery Adaptive Archery Instruction Manual will help create a safe and fun environment that inspires adaptive archers to cultivate a lifelong passion for the sport.

USA Archery's Chief of Sport Performance and Organizational Development, Mary Emmons commented: "The new additions to the Adaptive Video Series provide additional resources to further help coaches to improve their adaptive archery programs and coach adaptive athletes. USA Archery's continued partnership with Disabled Sports USA and their Adapt2Achieve Program is helping to further increase the accessibility of archery and increase the depth of the Paralympic athlete development pipeline."

"Archery is one of those sports that one can do for fun or competition, said Disabled Sports USA Executive Director Glenn Merry. "Our partnership with USA Archery is exciting in that it broadens the reach of the sport to people with varying physical disabilities and affords more people the opportunity to experience the thrill that comes along with hitting a bullseye."

USA Archery also offers sanctioned event opportunities, athlete clinics for disabled veterans and administers the Veteran's Monthly Assistance Allowance Program with the focus of promoting athlete development and participation in Paralympic archery.
