Delta Waterfowl’s Spring Issue Highlights Duck Production Mission

Are you a member of The Duck Hunters Organization? Then your Spring Issue of Delta Waterfowl magazine arrives soon!

BISMARCK, NORTH DAKOTA — Spring is on the horizon, which means one thing at The Duck Hunters Organization: It’s time to make some ducks! Even as certain waterfowl hunting seasons continue, we’re hard at work managing predators and, as highlighted in the Spring Issue of Delta Waterfowl magazine, installing new mallard-producing Hen Houses.

A pair of feature stories emphasize the cost-effective means by which your Delta membership adds greenheads to every fall flight. In “Making More Mallards,” Bill Miller reveals why Delta’s Hen House Supersites are key tools in Delta’s mission to produce ducks. And Miller’s story, “Moment of Glory,” details how to build and install a Hen House — whether as part of a local Delta chapter effort or individually — to achieve the ultimate goal of ducklings dropping to the water below.

We then shift to another priority aspect of Delta’s duck production work: conserving breeding duck habitat. The story, “Fuel for Life,” takes you along for the ride as a hen mallard journeys to the prairie pothole region to fulfill her destiny. Will she find a protein-rich wetland and make ducks, or will her spring be a bust?

Additionally, the Spring Issue is packed with waterfowl hunting content. You’ll relish in a tale of how bismuth shot gave new life to “Grandpa’s Gun,” while “Ferocious Fowl” provides entertaining insights into the big personality of the diminutive ruddy duck. And “Humbled by the Platte” demonstrates that ducks can put on a stunning spectacle and still evade hunters — anywhere, anytime — even on Nebraska’s famed river.

As always, the Spring Issue carries a full slate of informative and entertaining columns such as Duck Dogs, Shotgunning, Strategies, Waterfowl Chef and Traditions to help you get the most from your waterfowl season.

The only way to receive Delta Waterfowl magazine is to join The Duck Hunters Organization. If you are a member, thank you for your support. The Spring Issue will arrive soon!
