The veteran anglers share insight into fishing during the spring and selecting the right fishing line
Anglers are constantly looking for the latest tip, trick, or tweak that can help them get more bites. It is this quest and search for fishing knowledge that is embarked upon in each episode of the Bass Pro Shops Fisherman’s Handbook. Careco debuts the latest episode of this long-standing, nationally televised program with “Professional Anglers Break Down How to Catch Bass in the Spring.”
“You’re going to do everything from swim a jig to buzz bait to topwater. When we’re talking springtime fishing, we’re talking fish on the bed, fish coming off the bed, fish guarding fry, and the shad spawn,” said Gerald Swindle. “It’s the most energetic, fast-moving time of the year for me…because every morning is a surprise.”
The spring is one of the most exciting times to be on the water! Most of the bass in a given fishery are up shallow, giving anglers a great opportunity to target them and get bites. On this episode of the Bass Pro Shops Fisherman’s Handbook, professional anglers Gerald Swindle and Jason Christie break down how to catch fish during the spring.
Baits and presentations are key this time of year. Each bait serves a specific purpose, and based on the conditions…anglers have to make the right decisions to select lures that will trigger bites. From buzzbaits to wacky rigs, jerkbaits, and more…Jason and Gerald utilize a variety of baits from their tackle box to catch fish in the spring.
Fishing line is another very key factor. Each of those unique presentations requires a specific line for an angler to fish it effectively. Jason and Gerald both use Sunline Shooter Fluorocarbon, in varying pound tests, for many techniques. Braided line, for both spinning and casting presentations, is also another very important tool. The two veteran anglers will share their thoughts on fishing line for springtime fishing.
Jason Christie relies on Garmin electronics all times of the year to help him find, stay on, and catch fish. He will talk through numerous settings he prefers for the electronics at the console of his boat, as well as talk about Garmin LiveScope. Jason will also provide an in-depth look at the Garmin Force Pro Trolling Motor.
Tune in to learn from these professional anglers as they share information into catching bass during the spring!
