Michigan DNR announces Beyond Becoming an Outdoors-Woman events

The Michigan Department of Natural Resources’ Becoming an Outdoors-Woman program will host two Beyond BOW events Oct. 12 in Eaton County.

The BOW program gives women, 18 and older, an opportunity to improve their outdoors skills in a relaxed, noncompetitive atmosphere. In addition to being fun to participate in, Beyond BOW classes offer important outdoor skills, safety instruction and tips on appropriate outdoor clothing attire.

Two related field to table Beyond BOW events will be held in Bellevue.

Introduction to Archery – Saturday, Oct. 12; 9am – Noon

Cost: $25.

Limited to 15 participants.

Description: Whether it be hunting or competition that sparked your archery interest - our Introduction to Archery class is the place to start. We’ll be covering safety, equipment and shooting fundamentals. Participants will have an opportunity to learn and practice those skills on the range.

Required Items: Comfortable clothes, snacks/beverages if desired, and a learning mindset.

For a full field-to-table experience, be sure to also check out our Wild Game Butchering Class.

Wild Game Butchering – Saturday, Oct. 12; 1 p.m. – 5 p.m.

Participants will have the opportunity to participate in deboning, butchering, prepping for grinding and packaging venison.
