Walker County Public Fishing Lake Improvements Announcement Event Set for June 5

On Thursday, June 5, 2025, state and local representatives will host an event to announce the planned renovations to Walker County State Public Fishing Lake located at 4227 Walker County Lake Rd., in Jasper, Alabama. The event will take place at 2 p.m. The media and public are encouraged to attend.

The Alabama Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (ADCNR) manages 23 public fishing lakes throughout the state and is committed to improving access to quality outdoor recreation opportunities for all Alabamians and out-of-state visitors. The planned renovations at Walker County Lake will improve the experience of those who visit the lake as well as support the local outdoor recreation economy.

The announcement will take place at 2 p.m. on Thursday, June 5, 2025.

Location

About Walker County State Fishing Lake

The 163-acre lake and is stocked with largemouth bass, bluegill, redear sunfish, channel catfish, crappie, hybrid striped bass and rainbow trout (seasonal). In addition to great fishing, the lake features a community archery park, hiking trails and a boat ramp for small boats, canoes and kayaks. The lake is also a stop on the West Alabama Birding Trail. Visitors can expect to see a wide variety of wading birds and songbirds as well as occasional bald eagles.
