Williamsburg, KY – South Carolina S3DA was invited to set-up an archery and conservation booth at the annual Quest for the Record Book event at Lakewood Baptist Church located on Oakdale Road in Rock Hill, South Carolina. Quest for the Record Book is a popular religious organization run by a local group of men applying the calling on their lives by God to spread and share the Gospel. Delbert Dalton with Quest for the Record Book did an amazing job organizing the vendors and activities for this elaborate Christian sporting goods event. Cabela’s Pro Staff, Norman Bonnette had an archery booth set-up where people of all ages got the opportunity to shoot a barebow and the booth was jam packed all throughout the day.
When the activities outside had wrapped up, everyone went inside the church to listen to the guest speaker, Chuck McAlister. Chuck is an avid hunter and outdoorsman as well as the founder and host of the hunting program, AdventureBound Outdoors, which he launched in 1996. The program pioneered outdoor programs and won four national awards. Chuck is also a recognized author, having written four books, including Adventures in God’s Country, a collection of hunting stories.
The emcee for the night was Pastor Joey Deese from Oakdale Baptist Church. Thousands of dollars in door prizes were given away, including major hunts, fishing trips, vacations, guns, gift certificates, and even a brand-new four-wheeler. South Carolina S3DA State Coordinator, Sheila Tadlock was the lucky winner of a Mossberg 20-gauge donated by Broad River Mercantile. The night ended in prayer and wishes for safe travels home. South Carolina S3DA is already planning on attending the event next year.
S3DA National Conservation Coordinator, Patty Reel reflected on the event saying, “While it was an amazing opportunity and event, the best part of the night was when seven people gave their hearts and dedicated their lives to the Lord. There is so much more to the outdoor world than just hunting.”

Scholastic 3-D Archery (S3DA) is a unique, family-oriented youth archery program which has grown exponentially across the United States as a next-step initiative to follow introductory archery programs. The mission of the Scholastic
3-D Archery program is to foster, educate and guide youth in the areas of 3D, indoor target, and outdoor target archery as well as safe, ethical bowhunting practices. The goal of the S3DA program is to provide archery and bowhunting opportunities to youth in after-school settings, as well as with archery-affiliated clubs and businesses in the community. S3DA youth participate in 3-D and target archery using compound and traditional archery equipment. Youth members can participate at regional, state and national archery events and earn college scholarships from colleges and universities across the United States. S3DA addresses the need for a program to bridge beginning target archery experience and more advanced activities such as 3-D shooting and bowhunting.
