South Dakota — Melissa Bachman, host of Winchester Deadly Passion, returns for part two of an exciting elk hunt in the ponderosa pines of south-central South Dakota. In last week’s show on Sportsman Channel, Melissa and her husband, Ben, attempted to fill both of their tags. In this week’s show, the husband-wife team are losing time to get their bulls, but both are persistent and don’t know the meaning of ‘give up.’ Watch all the action Sunday at 11:30 am ET exclusively on Sportsman Channel.

Not only are Melissa and Ben hunting from dusk ‘till dawn, they are also managing building a new home, and their new family addition of baby Jax. After lining up babysitters, this family is ready for an adventure in the hills of South Dakota.

The couple has spent hours scouting and placed their Spypoint Trail Cameras strategically to keep tabs on the herds. This time, they are setting up in a clearing with a decoy – hoping to draw in the big bulls right to the decoy. “Putting that decoy in the back corner of the clearing has really been effective. The bulls are curious and want to fight them off. The hardest part of bowhunting for elk is getting that broadside shot and the decoy is helping to set that up,” shared Bachman.

The rut continues in South Dakota and after putting in 10-12 miles per day, Ben finally gets his bull. “The bachelors were so crazy trying to fight one another, they barely noticed what happened,” shared Ben Bearshield. “I immediately called Melissa to grab her bow and get out here as the bugling was heating up.”
