Williamsburg, KY – Scholastic 3-D Archery has named Danyell Kemerer as the Ohio S3DA State Coordinator. Danyell will oversee all aspects of the S3DA program in Ohio, including promoting the program across the state to gain team and individual memberships, providing training for new coaches, and dividing the state into regions and building a team of regional coordinators to oversee and manage those individual regions.
Danyell was born in Auburn, Indiana and grew up in Garrett, Indiana. She graduated from Garrett High School in 2006. She eventually moved to Hicksville, Ohio and married her husband Jeremy in 2012. Jeremy is a bowhunter, so to practice he would go out in the backyard and shoot. One day, Danyell decided she wanted to give it a try. Danyell started shooting too, but took a break when they welcomed their daughter, Harper, in 2015. When Harper was old enough to pick up a bow it became a family affair again.
The Kemerer family loves to be outside, especially fishing or hunting. Danyell said her personal favorite was dove hunting. The family shoots a lot of 3D tournaments in the summers at local clubs in the area. When the family is not on the road for a tournament, they love to visit Michigan’s upper peninsula and Navarre, Florida. In Danyell’s full-time career, she is the manager of a customer service team at Bollhoff, an international company supplying the OEM and tier automotive markets.
Danyell learned about the S3DA program around two years ago when her daughter was taking archery lessons at Nocking Point Outfitters. The coach, Josh Kimpel, told them about their S3DA team called Nocking Point Deadeyes and how Harper could join. Before they knew it, they were hanging up the Genesis bow and ordering Harper a compound bow. Harper loves archery! She currently competes in the Jr. Eagle division but will be moving up to the Eagle division after this season.
Danyell loves S3DA because she thinks the organization has the potential to make an impact on so many people from so many different backgrounds. She said, “Archery is a sport where you don’t have to be the strongest or the smartest, as anyone can find a home with an archery team or organization. The S3DA program encompasses teams that are so supportive of their own archers and every archer on the 3D course or out in the field. Everyone is super friendly, and the comradery of this program is unlike any other that my family has had the opportunity to be a part of.”
Danyell’s main goal for the Ohio S3DA program is membership growth. The state of Ohio is geographically large and most of the current teams are West of Columbus. There are a lot of archery shops participating with other organizations in the East, so Danyell intends to start there. She wants to get the S3DA program in front of them and show them the impact the program can have on their shop. Also, promoting the Universal Novice Compound (UNC) class at the state level will be extremely beneficial. Danyell says that giving archers and their parents the opportunity to try S3DA with the equipment they are already using will have a huge impact on them.
Danyell looks to build relationships with national partnering organizations (ASA, NFAA, and USA Archery) as well as local archery shops and clubs to continue the growth of the sport of archery in Ohio.
