Reigning World Helice Champion Kazim Muhammad added his second U.S. National Helice Championship title to his resume this past weekend. Helice shooters from across the nation traveled to the Black Prairie Helice facility located in West Point, MS, and vied for top honors.

Kazim posted an impressive score of 86/90 over the three-day event and topped the field of approximately 100 competitors. The Helice phenom also won the Junior HOA title for the fourth year straight.

Kazim’s 86/90 score meant he faced 90 clay targets fitted with a “witness cap” attached to a propeller that made the target rotate at a high rate of speed as they traveled in unpredictable directions. Required not only to hit the target but separate the “witness cap” as well, Kazim had only a short time to react once he called for the bird. 86 of the 90 targets he shot at fell within the specified boundary and were counted for a score.

When asked for his perspective on winning, Kazim replied with a very principled, “Either you win or you learn, there is no losing.” Kazim credited practicing this philosophy as key to his victory.

A passionate competitive shooter, Kazim first shot Helice at the age of 13 in 2019. Since then, he has expanded his Helice experiences from his home club – the Dallas Gun Club – to around the world with great success. In 2021, Kazim won 1st Place in both the Open and Junior categories at the World FITASC Helice Championship held in Cairo, Egypt. With multiple Junior and Overall HOA titles already won in stateside events, Kazim traveled to the 2021 World Championship a seasoned champion at the age of 15.
