MidwayUSA Foundation Announces 2021 Matching Program

Columbia, MO - The MidwayUSA Foundation is proud to announce it will continue a donation-matching program in 2021. All donations made to youth shooting teams with a MidwayUSA Foundation Team Endowment will receive a match. This year's program will offer $160,000 each month in matching dollars. This means the dollar's match ratio will change each month based on the total contributions for youth shooting teams in that month. There will also be an additional $40,000 in the months of April and September, totaling $200,000 to match donations. These two months will also host an Online Donation Drive to encourage more online contributions to youth shooting team endowments.

Larry and Brenda Potterfield, owners of MidwayUSA, fund the MidwayUSA Foundation Matching Program through personal donations. This critical funding proves their passion to support the growth and long-term funding of youth shooting sports.

MidwayUSA Foundation Executive Director, G. Scott Reynolds, has high hopes for the coming year because of the perseverance the youth shooting sports community displayed during a challenging year like 2020. "Last year was not a gracious year for youth shooting sports. Ranges fell silent as coaches, parents, and athletes contended with health threats, local gathering restrictions, and equipment and ammo shortages. However, in a clear demonstration of the spirit that drives the youth shooting sports community, teams across our Nation drove record donations into their favorite team's endowment, which we proudly matched. In recognition of that can-do attitude, I am thrilled that MidwayUSA Foundation will be increasing our matching and team incentive pools for 2021 so we can get even more money into our 2,800 youth shooting team endowments."

Highlights of 2020 include:

  • Over $2.2 million in donations to youth shooting teams matched
  • Over $4.9 million in cash grants paid to 1,398 youth shooting teams to cover expenses
  • Record-breaking Giving Tuesday added $444,493 to team endowments
  • Launched Sponsorship Program to enhance industry support
  • Additional tools were created to help teams fundraise, including their Hometown Challenge and a Team Gear program

Every youth shooting team with an endowment at the MidwayUSA Foundation has a team page on the MidwayUSA Foundation website [midwayusafoundation.org]. Team pages not only provide team and funding details, but donors can make donations to their favorite team right through this page. Approximately 2,800 youth shooting teams across the Nation have a funded endowment and this online donation capability. 100% of the donation, as well as the match, benefits the team. The Foundation removes nothing for operations.

The MidwayUSA Foundation is a 501(c)(3) public charity working to sustain and grow the shooting sports industry by providing long-term funding to youth shooting teams.
