Massachusetts Becoming an Outdoors-Woman ?Turkey Hunting Program

This program is designed for adult women (18 and older) who are new to turkey hunting. The program includes an in-person seminar and a mentored hunt. You can apply to participate in just the seminar, or the full program. First-time hunt participants must attend the seminar to take part in the mentored hunt. Returning participants are strongly encouraged to attend both the seminar and the mentored hunt.

Part 1: In-Person Seminar

Saturday, March 15, 9 a.m.–4 p.m., Shirley Rod & Gun Club, Shirley

Participants will learn about turkey biology, laws, and regulations, and practice all aspects of a safe hunt including calling, setting up, patterning on the range, and scouting.

Part 2: Mentored Hunt

Monday, April 28, 4:30 a.m.–1 p.m., Devens South Post Military Area, Lancaster

Spend the day turkey hunting with an experienced turkey hunter. This hunt is designed for participants using a shotgun as their hunting implement.

To participate in the mentored hunt, the following are required by April 28:

  • You must have a 2025 MA hunting or sporting license and Turkey Permit
  • You must hold a valid MA gun license
  • You must have a shotgun and ammunition to use for the hunt

Space is limited. To be considered for this program, please complete the application below by Sunday, February 23. Registration preference will be given to new participants. MassWildlife will contact you by February 26 to let you know if you were selected for the program.
